2023 Ford Ranger, Ford Europe announced plans to produce environmentally friendly vehicles for its entire commercial vehicle portfolio.
The plan will present plug-in hybrid vehicles and/or pure electric vehicles by 2024. In other words, the next-generation Ranger has confirmed some form of electrification.
Car Expert disclosed, as said by a Ford spokesman that the manufacturer will adopt PHEV regulations for its mid-sized trucks.
The plug-in hybrid system has never been used before on this production model.
Reportedly, the model will combine a 2.3-liter turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor. It is not yet known how much power the electric motor will use.
Information is circulating that the engine will provide a maximum power of 362 horsepower (270 kilowatts) and a maximum torque of 680 Newton-meters (502 lb-ft).
If those numbers are valid, that means the Ford Ranger PHEV 2023 will be much more powerful than the version of the Raptor currently in circulation.
The Raptor is currently equipped with a twin-turbo 2.0-liter diesel engine of 210 hp (157 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft).
The equivalent of the Ranger SUV, the Ford Everest, is also expected to use the same PHEV powertrain.
The powertrain allows both models to have an average fuel consumption of 1 liter and can cover a distance of 33.3 km.
As a realization of Ford’s partnership with VW, the next Ford Ranger will also be based on the VW Amarok. So it makes sense for Volkswagen to also adopt a plug-in hybrid system.
2023 Ford Ranger Review
New 2023 Ford Ranger, About the new Ranger Raptor, Australian magazine expects they will use the EcoBoost 2.7 liter turbo V6 engine taken from the Bronco that produces 310 hp (231 kW) of power and 540 Nm of torque.
The new Ranger and Everest aren’t the only Ford to be getting an electric version of the model. Rumors are circulating, that the Ford Bronco will also be present in an electric vehicle version.
A video has even been circulated showing the Ford Bronco digital instrument cluster which has a special EV Coaching display, showing its zero-emission capabilities. But the video has been deleted by Ford.
As is known, the Ford Bronco is currently in the production stage and is ready to be delivered to consumers shortly.
Will There Be A Ford Ranger
The 2023 Ford Ranger is a compact truck that more people want to know about. For the new model year, most people want to learn more about the STX Special Edition Package and the Off-Road Tremor Package.
This article will review the Ford Ranger 2023 release date, price, performance specs, interior features, and trim levels. Lastly, our evaluation of the new Ford Ranger will show what is different from the Ford Ranger 2022 and whether we will see the Ranger Raptor in the US.
So far it’s a mystery. Production of the 2023 Ford Ranger begins in December 2022. However, you can order a new Ford Ranger now that the order book opens in late September 2022.
The new 2023 Ford Ranger will arrive at dealerships early to mid-2022. We are expecting to see the package. Tremor and STX Ford Ranger 2023 to be released at the same time.
Estimated pricing for the new Ranger will start at $ 27,015 for the XL trim level. From here, the price will go up based on the selected trim level and package. This price is slightly higher than the Ford Ranger 2022 with an MSRP of $ 25,410.
Will The Ford Ranger Have A Manual Transmission
Two different engines are offered on the Ranger. The 2.3L 4-cylinder engine producing 143 horsepower and 154 pound-feet of torque are standard for the base XL and XLT Regular Cab as well as the 2-door Super Cab.
Both engines come standard with an optional 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission.
2023 Ford Ranger Redesign
The Ford Ranger Raptor 2023 is essentially a small, high-flying, speed-defying version of the F-150 Raptor. Like its big brother, the off-road-ready Ranger will also feature widened fenders, sturdy tires, extra ground clearance, and a clear grille.
While it will ride the same boxed ladder frame as the regular Ranger, the Raptor variant will receive a long travel suspension for hopping jumps and a more powerful engine for a faster desert run.
The Ford will probably only be offered in a one-body crew-style cab connected to a five-foot cargo box. The interior should have a distinctly ornate and feature-laden infotainment system. While many details about the upcoming Ranger Raptor are still pending, this is what we know so far.
Officially, Ford will bring the Ranger Raptor to the US. We don’t know when that will actually happen or when the company will make an official announcement, but now we’ve seen the spy photos from testing.
Combine that with the photos we saw of the next-generation Ranger prototype camouflaged, and we think the Raptor variant will hit showrooms on our beaches by the end of 2022.
2023 Ford Ranger Changes
Ford Ranger 2023 Model When the Ford Ranger and Ranger Raptor 2023 launch in 2022, they will look more like the F-150 than ever before. The new platform will be the same as the one used for the Bronco. The engines will most likely be the same and the transmission will be 10 speeds.
A few days ago we had the opportunity to study the upcoming mid-size Ford Ranger replacement. Of course, Torque News doesn’t have a clean look without a hitch from a revamped vehicle. We did get enough views to cover some of the comments about the Ranger.
To know a little about the Ranger, even though it’s relatively new in the country – the platform has been around for about three years – has been available in Europe for several years.
While the Ranger is an old platform worldwide, it’s a relatively new model here circa 2011, so the updated Ranger, slated for 2022 as the 2023 model, will be the new worldwide platform update.
For the most part, the Ranger camouflage on the test mules we saw was quite effective. However, that cannot hide the fact that significant changes are coming to the Ranger. For example, the front will receive a significant stylistic change when the vehicle undergoes major changes.
We’ve seen the results from the spy shots suggest that the next Ranger will likely have a more upright grille and a higher nose. Plus, like the F-150, the headlights will likely wrap around the center grille blade. The grid will likely feature double horizontal cross members.
2023 Ford Ranger Specs
On the other hand, the rear displays only one exhaust. As noted, the camouflage cover on the Ranger is quite extensive. Since there is only one exhaust tip visible, we estimate the standard powerhouse will most likely be Ford’s refurbished 2.3-liter EcoBoost four.
Another power plant that is likely to become available is the 2.7 liter V-6. Since there are other V-6s available – a high-output 3.5-liter twin-turbo version – it’s likely that a high-output version will also be available.
However, we had to wait until more information was available about machine availability before making any other judgments. We know the transmission is a Ford 10-speed automatic.
Here is some other interesting information that caught our attention as we researched this section:
- The rear suspension tends to feature leaf springs
- The headlights tend to be C-shaped and wrapped into a set of double cross members which is quite noticeable on the test mule.
- There is a set of round fog lamps at the bottom of the front fascia
- There will be a front camera – to match the rear camera – which will provide the operator with various safety features of Ford.
- Much of this information has been obtained from Hegarty Media, the information arm of Hegarty Auctions
2023 Ranger Engine Options
As far as drivetrains go, recent rumors suggest that the 2023 Ford Ranger will be available as a plug-in hybrid which will be powered by an electric motor paired with Ford’s 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 petrol engine for a combined 270 kW (362) horsepower) and 680 Nm (501 pound-feet) of torque.
2023 Ranger Interior
2023 Ford Ranger Interior On the inside, the Raptorized Ranger will be a little different from its regular counterpart. While we’re still expecting lots of hard plastic and some rubber, Ford is likely to tidy up the cabin with exclusive content.
Overseas versions offer leather and micro-fabric seats as well as highly reinforced front seats. In addition to a pair of aluminum paddle movers, the steering wheel must wear a red band on the 12 o’clock mark, indicating superior performance.
We anticipate that this truck will offer a similar set of standard and optional features to standard trucks, including dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, remote starting, and more. The Ranger Raptor will probably only come in one configuration: a crew-style cabin body with a five-foot-high cargo box.
We wish every Ranger Raptor had an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Ford’s latest Sync infotainment software. That means Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot are standard features.
2023 Ford Ranger Interior Along with a variety of charging ports, the wide-body Ranger will likely offer options like built-in navigation and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system.
2023 F250 Interior
2023 FordThe rugged F250, F350, and F450 pickups don’t get the fix from the F150 but add a new 12.0-inch touchscreen.
To get the new 12.0-inch touchscreen, you will need to upgrade to a Lariat model or better. They use the Ford Sync 4 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay wireless functionality and Android Auto. However, the Super Duty truck lacks the 12.0-inch digital cluster available from the F150.
The F-Series Super Duty XL model comes standard with a 4.2-inch display while the XLT gets an 8.0-inch display from the previous year with Sync 3. Only screens from Chevy and GMC heavy trucks and above are available.
The only cosmetic changes to the 2022 Super Duty pickup include a new Atlas Blue exterior color, Baja interior color for the Lariat interior, Navy Pier and Light Slate for the Limited model, and various skin packs for the F250 and F350.
The bumpers, mirrors, and grille of the Lariat model are painted exterior and complement the chrome exhaust and black footrests, while the black look package, previously only available on the Lariat, is now available on the XLT. These include black 20-inch alloy wheels, body-colored bumpers and grille, running boards, and a black Ford badge.
2023 Ford Ranger Exterior Colors
Among the many new features and capabilities announced for the 2020 Ford Ranger lineup here at Brandon Ford in Tampa, FL, three new exterior color options have been revealed – joining six exterior color options returning from the 2023 model year.
What are the three new exterior color choices for the Ford Ranger 2023 lineup? And what do all of the Ford Ranger 2023’s exterior color choices look like? You can see all of them below.

2023 Ford Ranger Raptor Engine
One of the biggest questions surrounding the US Ranger Raptor’s specs is what engine will be under the hood. We suspect it will inherit the twin-turbo version of the 2.7-liter V-6 that will be offered on the full-size Ford Bronco SUV.
In that model, it produces 310 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. The power must be transferred to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission. Compared to that pedestrian pickup, the Raptor will have a sturdier suspension and sturdier off-road gear.
Along with a higher ride height and higher ground clearance, these tires should have up to 33 inches of all-terrain tires that book a wider front and rear track.
2023 Ford Ranger Raptor MPG
Ford hasn’t released a fuel economy rating for the Ranger Raptor 2023 yet. Once they do, we’ll update this report. We’ll also provide real-world mpg once we have the opportunity to test it on the 75 mph fuel-efficient route, which is part of our extensive testing regimen. For more information on Raptor fuel economy, visit the EPA website.
2023 Ford Ranger Raptor Price
The Ranger Raptor is likely to be sold as a 2023 model, but Ford hasn’t said how much it will cost. We expect its starting price to exceed the very top Ranger Lariat (currently priced at around $ 40,000). It’s also likely to be in line with competitors such as the Chevy Colorado ZR2 and the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro.

2023 Ford Ranger Diesel
The next-generation Ford Ranger will get a bold new look and significant power improvements – including a selection of V6 turbo diesel from the Big Brother F-150 – and a long list of advanced technology when it sells at the end of next year or early 2022.
Our artist impressions of the Ford Ranger XL base model and the sales volume of the Ford Ranger XLT – based on initial design leaks for design – suggest that the next generation will adopt Ford F-150 design guidelines.
The extra-wide and wide grille and C-shaped daytime running lights seem to be designed to create a visual link to the Ford F-150.
Although the Ford F-150 – the best-selling collection in North America for the past 43 years – has not been designed for an Australian showroom, the new Ford Ranger will continue to be sold with it in the US, hence a family resemblance.
Also, for most of the 180 countries in which the Ford Ranger is sold – in fact, more space than the McDonald’s restaurant – associates in the company call the vehicle “our F-Series”.
While the next-generation Ford Ranger will be based on the ‘T6’ platform developed in Australia (a version that also supports four-wheel drive in Everest and the American Ford Bronco), the fundamental changes in suspension geometry are designed to improve road performance. . And field performance.
As a side note, the “spindle ratio” (the distance between the cab and the front wheels) has been expanded while the inside of the engine compartment will be modified to suit a wider V6 engine option.
The rails should be slightly wider and the wheelbase slightly longer, to give the new model a larger and even more stable footprint.
It has been said that the highway releases have improved, especially in the rear where the design of the new crane will be better than the current model.
In the corners of the rear bumper, there is a useful foot wedge (pictured below) to make it easier for you to get up and get into the bath of the area.
The cabin, although similar in size, shape, and space to the current Ranger, is expected to undergo a major overhaul, with better quality materials, a new digital device display, a large high-resolution infotainment screen, and a premium audio above. The final model.
A smartphone app called Ford Pass, which allows owners to remotely locate, lock and unlock cars (pictured below), will be unveiled at the current Ford Ranger later this year before being adopted for the next-generation model.
The current generation of the Ford Ranger has led the Ute market in advanced safety – and was the first in its world to receive a five-star rating, in 2011 – even though its competitors have narrowed the gap.
According to reports, the Ford Ranger 2022 makes another big technological leap, with safety aids available like blind spot alarms (already available on current US models, pictured below), rear-end traffic alerts, and 360-degree cameras, all of which complement autonomous emergency braking. ., Radar cruise control, and speed mark detection in current models.
Ford Australia has not confirmed the details or estimated timeline of the new generation of Ranger, but if history is any guide, it should be held in late 2021 or early 2022.
The current generation of the Ford Ranger went on sale locally in September 2011, followed by a facelift in 2015 and 2018.
The average life cycle for a full modification of the body collection model on the frame is 10 years.
Although not approved, the Ford Ranger will be required to adopt a central airbag (pictured below) in the center of the two front seats – a new requirement to meet the increasingly stringent five-star crash safety rating to prevent contact between the front passengers in the collision. Unless the company can find a way. Others achieve the same level of passenger protection without additional air pockets.
The 3.2-liter, the five-cylinder turbo diesel engine is set to be completed in 2018 when the 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel turbo will arrive with the Ford Ranger Raptor (pictured above) and as an option in the XLT and Wildtrak.
However, Ford maintains a 3.2-liter and five-cylinder turbo diesel for longer than planned amid fears of a buyer reaction in the transition to the smaller 2.0-liter displacement engine.
Tests by CarAdvice and other media outlets found that a 2.0-liter (157 kg / 500 nanometer) four-cylinder diesel with four cylinders that match a 10-speed car faster and more powerful than a 3.2-liter (147 kg / 470 nanometer) five-cylinder turbo. Diesel is suitable for car six. Speed - whether it is empty, attractive, or carrying a load.
The 10-speed automatic means that the 2.0-liter bi-turbo is always in the optimum power range and is under less pressure.
The big news – which has been speculated about a lot – is the expected arrival of a 3.0-liter turbo diesel V6 borrowed from the Ford F-150 (pictured above) with outputs approaching 185 hp and 600 nanometers.
This V6 turbo diesel apparently helped seal a partnership deal with Volkswagen for the next generation of Amarok, which is made by Ford but has a unique look (see separate story here).
Currently, the Volkswagen Amarok TDV6 in its most powerful disguise has a peak output of 190 hp and 580 nm and is suitable for a car with eight gears.
CarAdvice understands that the 2.0-liter four-cylinder dual-turbo diesel and 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel (pictured below) on the Ford Ranger 2022 will be powered by a 10-speed automatic transmission and a heavy-duty four-wheel-drive system. . . It is not clear whether manuals will be developed as an option for both machines due to the relatively low demand.
Given the expected power, we expect at least some versions of the 2022 Ford Ranger lineup to come with four-wheel disc brakes.
The US market version of the current Ford Ranger – and the current Ford Ranger Raptor – is already getting four-wheel disc brakes, hoping it paves the way for other models in the 2022 Ford Ranger lineup.
The more lucrative models in the Ford Ranger 2022 – including a single-compartment trade – are expected to move from a single-liter 2.2-liter four-cylinder (118 hp / 385 nm) to a new, more powerful, and more efficient generation. 2.0-liter four-cylinder single-turbo diesel from Transit Custom.
However, it is not clear which of the two outputs of a single 2.0-liter turbo diesel will be used; In Transit Custom (pictured below) the machine is available in 125kW / 390Nm or 136kW / 405Nm formats and is manually compatible with six gears or automatic with six gears.
In addition to the trio of diesel engines expected to headline the Ford Ranger 2022 (where the 3.0 TDV6 may be an option on luxury models like the XLT and Wildtrak), there may be petrol consumption options on select models as well.
According to reports, the development of hybrid petrol options is being developed for the new generation of Ranger, but it is unclear whether one or both of these petrol engines will be available in certain markets around the world (including Australia) or just in North America.
The hybrid option, if available in the Ranger ute, will be introduced sometime after the initial launch.
CarAdvice understands that the 2022 Ford Ranger will be built on top features and technology in its current model class, and engineers have been tasked with making the vehicle more like an SUV in terms of comfort, quietness, and driving dynamics.
The good news is that we will not have to wait long before we see the next generation of the Ford Ranger.
CarAdvice understands that the 2022 Ford Ranger will be launched in the first half of next year, and then there will be a clearer picture as to when it will arrive at its local showroom.
Currently, the windows are still wide open – late 2021 or early 2022 – as there are four Ford Ranger factories around the world (Thailand, South Africa, Argentina, and the US) that need to increase the production of the new model.
2023 Ford Ranger FX4
In this respect, the Ford Ranger FX4 Max 2023 is an example of a great item to pop up at the end of a ride. We’ve looked at the FX4 before, as a sticker customization pack based on the already decent Ranger XLT. This time, however, the FX4 Max is little more than just embossed trim and black wheels. Okay, so there’s that extra too.
No, the FX4 Max is a more substantial off-road package. It’s a bit like the Raptor, but unlike all games, none of the reduced-load halo model jobs, Max maintains the payload and crane capacity.
That neat trick, thanks in large part to maintaining the leaf-popping rear (unlike the Raptor), but using the off-road racing-ready version of Fox’s shocks that gives the Raptor the ability to beat the terrain.
Other FX4 Max add-ons include a few more Raptor-inspired bits, such as 265 / 70R17 BFGoodrich K02 off-road tires with a uniqu17-inch alloy, a grille with a Raptor look, and a sleek set of wheel arch extensions.
Add an off-road non-slip side ladder and full-length sports bar, partial leather upholstery and suede look, sports pedals, and a new pod above the dashboard lined with six additional switches ready for any additional gear you might want. Add.
The basic equipment is otherwise ported from the XLT. There’s only one drivetrain, though, Ford’s flagship 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo four-cylinder and 10-speed automatic.
All this brings the demand to $ 65,940 plus on-road costs. That makes the FX4 Max $ 11,750 less than the Raptor, but an insignificant $ 5,000 increase compared to the matching 2.0-liter XLT dual-cab 4×4.
2023 Ford Ranger PHEV

2023 Ford Ranger V6
The next-generation Ranger Raptor, which is thought to adopt a V6 petrol engine, has seen the process go through
This week, Ford is showing off the all-new F-150 Raptor. With a revised twin-turbo V6 and a penchant for off-road badassery, it’s an attractive package, but nothing we can enjoy in Europe through the official channels. Huu.
What we’re going to get here is a new generation of Ranger Raptors. The vehicle you see here, we’re pretty sure, is that.
The camouflage is still pretty heavy at this point, but there’s nothing to hide the inscription of a giant ‘Ford’ grille, something reserved for the Raptor version of the forthcoming Ranger.
There are plenty of ground clearance, BF Goodrich A / T tires, and what appears to be an absence of rear leaf springs, signaling the use of the same coil-overs at all turns as on the current Raptor.
Much like the F-150 Raptor, there is an exhaust system with a pair of exhaust pipes pushed to the outer edge of the rear, albeit with a much smaller diameter of the exit. Actually what breathes through the system will depend on your market.
Reportedly, the US-spec version of the Ranger Raptor will get a 2.7 liter ‘Nano’ Ecoboost turbo V6 engine. It produces 325bhp and 399lb-ft of torque, surpassing the 210bhp and 369lb-ft supplied by the blunt four-pan diesel on the current Raptor.
You’ll have a hard time getting lots of people to sign on the dotted line for a V6 turbo pick-up outside the US, so Australia is expected to get a choice between the 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter V6 diesel engines producing 255bhp and 443 lb-ft. Of power. Don’t be surprised if we only get an inline-four in the UK, but we’ll be hopeful anyway.
The next-generation Ranger will also have a German cousin the new Amarok, which is being jointly developed as part of a ‘strategic alliance’ between Ford and VW to produce a variety of commercial vehicles. Full disclosure for each in 2022 is on the cards.
2023 Ford Ranger XLT
The Ranger is still powered by a 2.3-liter turbo-4 engine that produces 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque sent via a 10-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard, although four-wheel drive is installed on many trucks.
The combination can pull up to 7,500 pounds when properly equipped, and tackles almost any terrain we’ve thrown.
Ford sells the Ranger in an extended cabin and crew version with bunk beds 6 feet or 5 feet at the back, respectively. The crew cabin version is more popular, and for good reason – it’s the most comfortable for more than two and the most practical.
The Ranger is available in XL, XLT, and Lariat trim levels starting at around $ 25,000 but don’t hang in there long. Our recommended XLT with a crew cabin and creeping four-wheel drive is close to $ 40,000, and a top Lariat with everything including the Tremor package can go for as much as $ 45,000.
Ford achieves low prices on the XL by offering only a few conveniences; The 4.2-inch infotainment screen is small, the seats are not very comfortable, and the interior materials are not comparable to its class. At least automatic emergency braking is included.
We call it a “shotgun” or keep the key. The front seats in the XLT and Lariat models are height adjustable for high torque, and better viewing from the front.
The rear seat in the crew cab model offers ample legroom for small to medium-sized adults – barely anything. The four-door crew cabin model provides 34.5 inches of legroom, about as much as a small sedan. The extended cabin model offers only 30.4 inches of legroom in the rear seats, roughly as much as Spirit Airlines.
The crew cabin truck gets a 5-foot high bunk, and the extended cabin model gets a 6-foot high bunk.
Inside, the truck gets substandard material that doesn’t feel too expensive for the price. The Ranger Lariat worked hard to convince us otherwise, but we wish Ford had spent more time inside.
Outside vision on the Ranger is fine, but the blind-spot monitor included on the XLT and Lariat models helps.
We recommend the XLT, which gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay software and Android Auto, two USB ports, keyless start, dual-zone climate control, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
More options are available on the XLT, including a new off-road Tremor package and other display options. The XLT costs over $ 30,000, but our recommended four-door crew-cabin model with four-wheel drive runs the tab for nearly $ 40,000.
2023 Ford Ranger XL
The Ford Ranger 2023 is a versatile midsize pickup truck that can fill several roles depending on how you configure it. The truck is built on the same frame as the global market Ford Ranger introduced in 2012, but the US-spec model receives an updated suspension, unique bodywork and interior, and a single-specification drivetrain.
Now in the third model year, two body styles are offered: the two-door SuperCab with a 6-foot bed and the four-door SuperCab with a 5-foot bed. With three trim levels and a wide selection of packages to choose from – including the new off-road Tremor option – you can choose a Ranger for work, play, or a combination of the two.
As the base model of this lineup, the XL is the simplest Ranger you can get. It comes with 16-inch steel wheels, cloth seats, black plastic bumpers, and a basic audio system with a screen that we describe as “credit card size”.
AM / FM radio with Bluetooth audio streaming capability comes standard on the base Ford Ranger XL 2023, with the Ford Sync 3 infotainment system available.
That system, with an 8.0-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, comes standard on the XLT and Lariat trims. Although easy to use, the Sync 3 system can do with updated graphics and a more responsive screen.
Inside the instrument cluster, you’ll find either a single 2.3-inch LCD productivity screen or a 4.2-inch dual screen. This display can convey navigation and vehicle data, although in our opinion it is not always easy to read.
2023 Ford Ranger Hybrid
Ford has confirmed that it is working on a plug-in hybrid ute Ranger.
A Ford Europe spokesman this morning confirmed the Blue Oval line of commercial vehicles, including the ute Ranger, will be “capable of producing zero emissions” by 2024.
“We know there is an increasing appetite among Australian consumers for EVs and hybrid vehicles,” Ford Australia said in a statement.
“However, it is too early to discuss what impact Ford’s European move will have on other markets, including Australia.”
Although the Euro Ranger was made in South Africa, not Thailand like the local model, Ford Australia’s major role in the development of the Ranger put us in a strong position to use a wide variety of engines when a new generation ute was launched.
The Ford Europe statement confirms CarExpert’s exclusive report that the next-generation Ford Ranger and Everest will be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
It may not be available when it launches in Australia, but the Ranger is expected to be offered with a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with a plug-in hybrid system.
The Ranger and Everest PHEV will generate approximately 270kW of power and 680Nm of torque and are expected to offer a combined fuel economy of 3.0L / 100km.
Our understanding is that plug-in hybrid engines are not yet used in any Ford product globally.
Currently, the Explorer PHEV uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine and an electric motor, while the Escape PHEV uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine combined with an electric motor.
The Ranger and Everest are expected to launch with an overhauled engine range beyond just the PHEV.
The entry-level engine is expected to be a 2.0-liter bi-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine, while the 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 engine will be available in a high-end variant.
The 2.7-liter EcoBoost petrol engine is also likely to be featured on the Ranger Raptor.
Revealed last year, the range-topping Bronco was available with a second-generation 2.7-liter EcoBoost Nano V6 turbocharged engine.
CarExpert expects the same engine to be featured in the next-generation Ranger Raptor.
It outputs 231kW of power and 540Nm and torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and full-time all-wheel drive.
That’s a 74kW and 40Nm jump from what the Ranger Raptor currently offers.
So why does the Ranger use a plug-in hybrid? In a move that could have a major impact on Australia, Ford Europe has committed to selling dedicated electric passenger cars by 2030.
As part of the transition to an all-EV lineup, Ford says by mid-2026 all models in the European lineup will be capable of producing zero exhaust emissions, meaning every vehicle will have at least a plug-in hybrid or electric drivetrain.
Currently, Ford Australia’s passenger car range features Escape, Puma, Fiesta ST, and Focus, all sourced from European factories.
2023 Ford Ranger Tremor
Just this week, we saw the Ford Ranger Raptor 2023 prototype come out of testing on three separate occasions.
The first time, when driving in a prototype Ford Bronco Warthog, then seen alone, and most recently, we took some photos of the rear coil spring suspension of the pickup. Now, we have new photos of the next-generation Ford Ranger to share – the Ford Ranger Tremor 2023.
The Tremor Pack just made its debut with the Ford Ranger 2021, as the most hardcore off-road capable Ranger in the US until the Ranger Raptor comes to the next generation.
It makes perfect sense that Ford would want to continue offering the Tremor package on the next-generation Ranger, as it sits neatly between the more hardcore and expensive FX4 and Ranger Raptor packages.
Like the Ranger Raptor prototypes we’ve seen, the Ford Ranger Tremor 2023 prototype is covered in thick camouflage that masks most of its appearance.
However, we take a peek at the truck’s new headlight design, which appears to adopt the inverted C shape found on the Ford F-150 2021 and the upcoming Ford Maverick compact pickup.
The Tremor prototype uses the same Raptor-style wheels as the current model and is very similar in size and shape to the current generation Ranger.
But that’s no surprise considering the next-generation Ranger will use a modified version of the Ford T6 platform that supports the current-generation Ranger and the 2021 Ford Bronco.
It’s currently unclear what engines will be available in the next-generation Ford Ranger, but rumors from last spring suggest that it could feature plenty of options in that regard, at least in Australia and other parts of the world outside the US.
Currently, the US. The -bound Ranger Raptor is expected to be powered by Ford’s 2.7L EcoBoost V6.
2023 Ford Ranger Lariat
After an eight-year hiatus in the US market, Ford is finally looking clear about reintroducing the Ranger to our shores for the 2019 model year. Even so, the platform – known as the ‘T6’ in the global market – has been around for almost a decade.
It’s time for Ford to bring in a replacement, and this new spy photo gives us a first look at what Ford is hiding. As far as we know, this is the Ford Ranger 2023, so we still have about 18 to 24 months left before we actually see the new truck in production form.
That said, there are a lot of things we can see with this first spy shot. First and foremost is the front clip, which is very different from the current Ranger. The new Ford headlights are in the shape of a dial in a family resemblance to the F-150 and should have been the smaller Maverick.
Apart from the camouflage, we could also see a bigger, more upright grille. That gives this Ranger a more aggressive and bolder look than its current decade-old design.
What hasn’t changed (at least at this stage) appears to be the cabin and the bed configuration. Here we can see the Ford Ranger 2023 in the form of a crew cabin, and it looks the same as the current truck.
That’s not necessarily a bad thing, as most midsize trucks (excluding the Jeep Gladiator) more or less use a similar cabin layout. The formula is a formula, and if it ain’t broke, we doubt Ford will take drastic action to fix it.
While we can’t see it here, we imagine Ford plans to dramatically update the interior of the truck. Like the new F-150, the digital meter cluster, new center stack, and bigger infotainment screen, with all the functionality they have, can’t go wrong.
Things got a little more prototyped when we look back. There is one exhaust pipe that sticks out at the back, but rest assured that the production won’t look awkward. The 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine performs well for mid-sized trucks, so we might as well not see much powertrain change.
If anything, Ford might offer an electric motor as an option, creating the Ranger “PowerBoost” alongside the standard gas unit. Currently, the 2.3-liter engine produces 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.
We expect at least minor improvements in the next generation, and hybridization may be the answer.
Looking further ahead, it seems that the Ford Ranger 2023 could use the current truck-like suspension setup. The mounting points upfront indicate that it still has independent suspension rather than a solid axle.
On the back, you still get sturdy axles, although it’s hard to tell if the truck is still packing leaf springs.
Like the front, the Ford Ranger 2023 also appears to be getting C-style taillights. It seems Ford is trying more to freshen up their mid-range offering than to offer a complete overhaul.
Remember, there may still be plenty of time for the Blue Oval to make changes. Since this is only a first sighting, the production model may look a little different from what we see now over the next year or so.
2023 Ford Ranger Supercrew
Last year, Ford returned to the midsize pickup truck segment with the Ranger, the old nameplate being applied to the new design. This year, the 2023 Ranger earned an award for quality in the annual JD Power Initial Quality Study (IQS), leading the second-place Chevrolet Colorado, third-place Honda Ridgeline, and other models in its segment.
Available in SuperCab (extended cab) and SuperCrew (crew cab) styles, the 2023 Ranger comes in XL, XLT, and Lariat trim levels.
Changes for 2023 include more standard equipment for the Ranger XLT, a new pickup box extender option, an available front parking sensor, and a new FX2 Off-Road Package for the rear-drive version of the Ranger.
The FX2 package adds an off-road suspension setup, off-road tires, an electronic locking rear differential, and an off-road data display in the driver information center.
For this review, JD Power evaluated the Ranger XLT SuperCrew equipped with the FX2 Package, 302A Package, Technology Pack, Trailer Crane Pack, spray sheets, SecuriCode entry system, tray-style floor coating, and all-terrain tires. It costs $ 37,290, including a $ 1,195 destination fee.
2023 Ford Ranger Supercrew Exterior
Any Ranger looks even better with the Sport Appearance Package, which includes a dark gray finish for the grille, bumper, wheel rim, and aluminum wheels. Paired with the Saber’s unusual paint color, which is a golden-orange hue, the test truck looks amazing.
Even without the Sport’s grooming, any Ranger looks attractive, incorporating bold fender flares, sculpted sides, ruffled hood, and an oversized RANGER lettering stamped on the back door.
You could even make the argument that the XL trim silver steel wheels are retro-cool. However, there are no awkward lines on this clean, cohesive truck.
2023 Ford Ranger Supercrew Interior
Overall, the Ranger’s interior materials are well above what you’ll find in most mid-range pickups.
Plus, there’s a sense of style that goes hand in hand with the rugged build quality, and some of the switchgear is drawn from a common set of components also used for Lincoln that cost twice the price of the Ranger.
The controls are simple and functional, the only oddity is the power window button which is located on the dashboard, not on the door panel.
Equipped with comfortable front seats wrapped in fabric that looks good and feels durable, this test truck provides 8-way power management for both front seats while still offering manual seatback function.
As with most mid-range pickups, the rear seats of the Ranger SuperCrew are tight for adults but provide proper support. The padded, cloth-draped front rear seat helps the knees and shins to find a happy home.
2023 Ford Ranger Supercrew Tech
As for infotainment technology advances, the Ford Sync 3 system has not kept pace with time. Most notably, the issues with the Sync 3 were related to slow loading times and voice recognition not being as sophisticated as buyers had hoped.
Thus, Sync 3 remains a user-friendly platform. The 8-inch touch screen is a good size for the Ranger’s cabin, and the separate stereo and climate controls limit the driver’s need to interact with the screen.
Sync 3 is also rich in features, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, FordPass Connect services including a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot that supports up to 10 different devices, and the FordPass app for Apple smartphones and smartwatches.
The FordPass app supports remote engine start and remote door lock operation and supports the use of Alexa and Waze.
2023 Ford F350
The 2022 Ford Super Duty, be it the F250, F350 or F450, is more trucks than most people will ever need. But for those who need it, it’s impressive. There is a trio of V8 engines, with a 7.3 liter engine producing 473 lb-ft of torque and a 6.7 liter diesel engine at 1,050 ft-lb.
A well-equipped Super Duty can tow up to 37,000 pounds and carry up to 7,850 pounds of payload. While the historic Aries rival offers higher torque and towing value, as well as a nicer interior, the more luxurious Ford Crew Cab models offer an exclusive environment and ample space for passengers.
The Chevy Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD both feature more advanced driving modes. good, but Super Duty 2022 offers more high-tech features and a variety of driver assistance.

Ford Ranger and 2023 Ford Everest engine lineups Ford will launch the Ford Ranger and 2023 Ford Everest by removing the ability to buy both models with its aging 3.2-liter, five-cylinder turbo-diesel engine.
The default engine is a 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged four-cylinder diesel that produces 157kW of power and 500Nm of torque.
Buyers will be able to upgrade the six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine as an option in the top model class. The engine will be a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder diesel producing 186kW of power and 600Nm of torque.
The six-cylinder diesel engine is currently used in the American F-150. The V6 diesel engine was released in June 2018 and helps the F-150 offer a crane capacity of over 5000kg with a trailer brake.
Currently, the two V6-powered diesel engines on the market are the Volkswagen Amarok V6 and (for now) the Mercedes-Benz X-Class X350d.
Both use a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine. The Amarok pumps out 190kW (200kW when over boost) and 580Nm of torque, while the X350d delivers 190kW of power and 550Nm of torque.
Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz utes are capable of traveling 0-100km / h 7.3 and 7.5 seconds respectively.
The last engine on offer for the Ranger and Everest, although unlikely to be available immediately at launch, is a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine with a plug-in hybrid system.
The Ranger and Everest PHEV will produce 270kW of power and 680Nm of torque and are expected to offer a combined fuel economy of 3.0 liters of fuel per 100km.
The entire lineup will be mated to a Ford 10-speed automatic transmission.

2023 Ford Ranger Spy Shots
In the last few weeks, we’ve seen several prototypes of the Ford Ranger 2023 around, including the left-hand-drive Ranger Raptor and rear coil spring suspension, as well as the Tremor prototype.
Now, we’ve seen the interior of the Ford Ranger 2023 for the first time, although The Blue Oval manages to cover it up. Apart from that, there are some important details here that are worth taking a look at.
Even though the dashboard is completely covered, we can still see the outer edge of the massive new Ranger 2023 infotainment screen, which dominates the center stack.
The new screen is clearly much bigger than the one in the current generation Ford Ranger, which is a maximum of eight inches. Apart from being bigger in size, the new screen also looks much more modern than the previous unit.
The interior design of the Ford Ranger 2023 also shows the design of the new steering wheel, which uses lighter stitches that provide contrast. There’s also a start button integrated into the steering column, which is somewhat unique.
Overall, the design looks very clean and tidy, and overall a lot more modern than the current Ranger cabin.
Instead, the Ford Ranger Raptor 2023 is rumored to be powered by Ford’s 2.7L EcoBoost V6. The Ford 10-speed automatic transmission is expected to remain the gearbox of choice.
2023 Ford Ranger Manual Transmission
Unlike today’s trucks, the next Ranger will be completely new from the start. It will share a new platform with the long-awaited Bronco (featured in the teaser above), which is due next year as a 2021 model and is rumored to get a new turbocharged V-6 engine and an optional seven-speed manual transmission. (The Ranger currently uses a 2.3-liter turbocharged in-line four-cylinder engine.)
Ford has also confirmed that the Bronco will get a hybrid variant, and with the F-150 gaining power shortly, we believe the Ranger will too.
The new next-generation Ranger platform will also support the Volkswagen Amarok pickup, although VW is unlikely to make it to the United States. What will most likely make it to America, is the high-performance off-road version of the Raptor of the next-generation Ranger.
The US has denied the Ranger Raptor at this time, but recent rumors suggest that a replacement is being offered in America.
With the next-generation Ranger still around two years away, it may take a while before we get concrete details about the truck, so please keep in mind that more info about the Ranger and its Bronco siblings continues to leak.
- Ranger Raptor $ 44,500 (est)
2023 Ford Ranger Release Date
The next-generation Ranger is expected to launch in 2022 for the 2023 model year, and will reportedly continue to use the Ford T6 platform, like the current model and the Ford Bronco 2021, albeit with some modifications.
When New Ford Ranger Coming Out
Production of the 2023 Ford Ranger begins in December 2022. However, you can order a new Ford Ranger now that the order book opens in late September 2022. The new 2023 Ford Ranger will arrive at dealerships early to mid-2022.
